Things have been pretty busy for me recently!  I have been invited to be a part of 3 different events over the next 8 months!  The soonest one being “Bright Night’s Got Talent!,” a talent competition for kids (ages 6-19) where the final prize is a performance slot during Bright Night! 2012.  I will also be involved in Bright Night! 2012, which is an art festival of sorts that takes places on New Years Eve in Providence, RI.  Formerly known as “First Night,” the festival has dance and theater performances, art shows, magic and comedy shows as well as activities for children!  It is held on New Years Eve (December 31) from noon to midnight.  This version of the festival has been going on for 9 years, so it’s quite the prestigious event!  I get to assist with the registration and marketing processes for Bright Night’s Got Talent! and I get to work on putting up posters advertising Bright Night! 2012 as well as getting donations from local restaurants and retailers.  I have never worked on this type of event in depth before and I am looking forward to experiencing the differences and learning something new!

The 3rd event that I have been asked to be a part of is Wickford Heels & Wheels.  It is an annual fundraising event that chooses a different charity or cause each year.  Then there are two days of fun; an antique car show with food, games and fun and the next evening an elegant dinner and dancing event with silent auction.  This year the event is supporting the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which is devoted to providing resources and support to service members, veterans and their families.  I have been invited to be the head of ticket sales, so I get to sell tickets, maintain records of sold tickets, check our P.O. box for payments that have been mailed in, and keep everything to do with tickets generally organized.  Since organization is one of my callings, I don’t expect any problems with these tasks!  I can’t wait to get more involved and see this wonderful event come to fruition and help so many service individuals and families in need.

It’s going to be a few months of chaos until the end of Bright Night! 2012, but I am looking forward to every event-filled second!!  Stay tuned for updates on these events as well as additional event tips, news and opinions!

Until Next Time,

A
